Fair Time! ...& a tux fitting...

We almost didn't make it to the fair this year. For whatever reason, this summer feels like it has flown by! The days of the fair were getting away from us and on Thursday night we decided to go after dinner. It was quite a late night, the kids didn't go to bed until 11, but they had a fabulous time!

Harry's first reaction to the first barn. "Wow, what is the stinky smell?!" He saw a cow poop, and that was the question for all the rest of the animals..."where'e the duck poop?!?"....
Amelia just LOVED all the horses! This was a very nice horse that let her pet its nose quite a bit. When she saw this horse she yelled out, "LOOK, LOOK-look-LOOOK!! A PINK horse!!". The light from the tent above was casting light on to the horse. She loved him.
We were laughing really hard here...The horses started whinnying to each other, about 3 of them, and I said to Amelia "Nina, they're talking to each other...", she said with a Huge smile and laugh, "NO mama, they're talking to ME!". She had a blast. I sware, I have not pushed her to love horses...okay maybe by seeing how much I like them she has taken that in...but she certainly has her own affection towards them.
I think we said hi to every horse there was...and there are A LOT of barns! I tried to pass by a few and she would say, "NO, that pony mama!!". She would have such a tight grip on the bars. Nina had to make a comment about each one, whether she wanted to pet them, say hi, or that they were eating dinner.

Yep, Amelia had a grand time...So did Harry, he was more of the 'soaking everything in' type that night. Plus he was waiting, not so patiently to see the cows being milked.

I thought this was sweet.

The kids were so excited to see the carousal. It was nothing like the one at the Tigers game, but they loved it all the same.

This, funny enough, was one of the biggest highlights of their night. They were at meltdown stage. It was 9 and we were heading out. I heard that the 'little squirt, the talking firetruck' was going to be coming out in a few seconds, I convinced Andy that we should stay for it. He thought I was nuts. The kids had a blast! Harry was the first volunteer to answer a question, he was so proud. Then to our surprise, Amelia really wanted to go up there. She went up all by herself, told 'little squirt' her name, he then said hi to her (a big deal!), and she showed how to Stop, Drop, Cover, and Roll. (They added covering your eyes...for all of you out there wondering why I added that in there :)). We couldn't believe it...who's little girl is that?! She was such a big girl, not needing us up there with her.

Harry was fitted for his tux for Uncle Jeff's wedding over Labor Day weekend. We are all very excited about the trip. We will be traveling 3000 miles total. Amelia had a fitting for her dress today. Funny, the kids are enjoying the details leading up to our trip....never thought that would be the case.

Harry tried the coat on and looked in the mirror. He said out load to himself, "I sure look handsome!" It was too cute...and I was very happy that Andy heard it too! What a big boy.


It was Grandma's birthday on Tuesday and we went to Kalamazoo to celebrate with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Brian & Aunt Jessica and Great Grandma Zander. I didn't have my camera, so I don't have any pictures of the night. We all had a great time. The kids got to enjoy an extra special time with ggma Zander. Thanks for a great night! Harry's drawing. This one is entitled, "The rainbow dinosaur" (it's a long-neck). He just loved that daddy could put it up on the computer.
Trouble. I had her try on her boots for our New Mexico trip in couple weeks. She then wanted her skirt and then hat...She loved every minute of it.


This has been Amelia's new 'thing'. She loves her 'wiggles', they are weebles but she calls them wiggles. She will put them in so many different things and carry them around, purses, egg holders, Harry's tool box...whatever.

Party Time!!

It was a party weekend for this Lewis family. First Saturday was one of Andys childhood friends, sons birthday...his son is now Harry's friend as well, Jack...we traveled over for his birthday, and then Sunday was the Big one! Papa's 60th birthday. We had a little impromptu party for him. We had just planned a Sunday night super over here and it turned out that one of my childhood friends, Ann Marie, was in town from New York. Her mom Mary still lives across the street from my parents, they are like family, so they came with a friend of Anns (thank you Jim for the taking some of these pictures for us!). It was a good day...a great weekend!
