He's Here!

Spats is now a butterfly!

It happened yesterday, just before dinner.

We were all getting ready to sit down and Andy saw him move.

It was incredible, spectacular really.

I have frame by frame photos of him

(and yes, he is a he Andy checked, he has a little black dot to tell that he in fact is a he).

Need to download the pictures off of my camera.

It happened fast. I would have thought it would be drawn out, a couple hours, his exit.

Nope. In less than 5 minutes there he was our beautiful Monarch.

In about 20 minutes his wings were full and dry.

Have tried to set him free twice, but last night it was late and he was not ready.

This morning, it is raining. Maybe this afternoon.

Our other caterpillar, he is now named Firecracker (because he was born on the 4th).

He is eating away as a good caterpillar should. He is now about 5 times the size he was,

just 4 days ago!
