Another Day, Another Tree.

Well. The piles are back, yet again. We really, really did not want to take this beautiful tree out. When we bought the house it had already been struck by lightning, and now had become a hazard. Andy looked at it this day (when actually he had been planning on putting the rest of the fence up, not take a tree out), and saw that it really needed to be taken out. It had split further and last time we trimmed it the branches just split off...

It was very sad taking this tree out. Such wonderful shade it provided, but it was no longer safe. After taking it down, we found out that it was almost hollow because of the ants that had taken residency there.

This one wasn't going to fall on one of our cars!
There it is.
The lightning strike after the branches had been taken off.

Ants. Ugh. They were not too happy.

During all of this Nina got yet another bloody nose. It has been almost a daily activity around here, unfortunately.
(Funny enough, this is one of the pieces of furniture that was in the garage that we got from my parents neighbor...that caused Andy's car to be outside and get hit by the tree. Look at that cover. Yes, yes it is original. We do live in a 60's house and all!)
Harry being a good big brother...or, not so patiently waiting his turn for the chase lounge.

Nina feeling better. Everyone is a part of the tree process around here.
