Success! We finally got the guy we were looking for. We also found another caterpillar that we let go when we got home, he was a bit too tiny for our container, so we put him on our grapes outside...his food of choice. :)
We were at the end of our adventure. We planned on being gone just a few minutes, and a half an hour later, well into the kids bedtime, there he was. Just spectacular!! Daddy spotted him.
We were expecting to find a little guy, but this one, I think he will be in a chrysalis sooner rather than later.
We all have been mesmerized by him (her?...I'll just call it him). Especially me. He looks like he has patent leather shoes on. Watching him move, I could watch all day.
It is morning and he has eaten a whole leaf and is working on the stalk.
I'm excited to see Mr. Monarch Butterfly, but we are enjoying him in his larva stage very much! We'll keep you posted! :)
Here's the first guy. He was so tiny, he could escape from our terrarium. Andy said, that was the hardest part of the night...putting a caterpillar on his grapes!
